tonight I'm here
lightyears away
watch the spin of the world
every day
what I miss
the sensations I crave
save me from a meltdown
so far
in my castle afloat
there's no TV
I read the words that you wrote
who's to say how long til I return
watch the fires burn
in the sky
when these stars collide
when there's nothing I can say
to make you stay
to have you by my side
tonight through my computer screen
I see my plans fail
before they begin
make a last call to mission control
something's going wrong
in the sky when these stars collide
when there's nothing I can say
to save the day
and make you stay
I'm coming back
I'm on my way
to have you waiting
it would be so nice
planets left behind
orbits out of time
on my way back home
The name of this album perfectly encapsulates everything I love about Elizabeth's musical output from the Darlings to Allo Darlin' to these precious songs: an unyielding optimism that is never naive, and by being so, becomes wildly contagious. Some music tells you that "everything will be ok", but her music actually makes you believe it, even when the lyrics hint at doubt. Michael Feck
